About OIT

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides support for all of the agencies, departments, and branches of County government. We are a dynamic organization focused on:

  • Exploring and leveraging technology to move the County forward
  • Increasing services to citizens and constituents
  • Providing infrastructure for the County
  • Providing data management and business intelligence to Prince George's County government 

The OIT Service Desk provides information technology support and maintenance services to Prince George’s County personnel. The Service Desk is available by phone 24/7 at 301-883-5322. On-site service is available Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., by appointment only.

Our vision is to make Prince George’s County a recognized leader in the Washington Metropolitan Region by effectively applying innovation and modern technology to provide readily accessible services to the residents and businesses of Prince George’s County. Our position will be further enhanced through transparency, collaboration, and cooperation between all branches of government in order to provide creative and efficient solutions that reflect our desire to showcase Prince George’s County as a great place to live, work, invest, and visit.

 

Mission

The Office of Information Technology is wholly dedicated to aligning technology efforts to support the strategic goals of the County. OIT will provide leadership, expertise, and resources in the ideation, development, and deployment of innovative technologies and streamlined processes to improve government efficiency, business interaction, and citizen access to government information and services.

Our programs govern local technology and strengthen networks and information sharing for public benefit.

The Prince George's County Cable Commission was established to govern the county's cable franchises.

Intergovernmental Network (C-Net)

The Prince George's County Intergovernmental Network (referred to as C-Net) is a secure, reliable, and scalable fiber optic network. It provides a common framework for government, education, and public safety to leverage shared resources for information and data sharing and regional interoperability.

National Capital Region Interoperable Communications Infrastructure (NCRNet)

NCRNet was established to assist our local governments with interconnecting their institutional networks (I-Nets). This links Maryland, Virginia, and DC local National Capital Regions jurisdictions together for the benefit of first responders and other local government officials both in regional emergencies and in routine operations.
