Candidate Filing - 2024 Presidential Primary Election


Candidate filing for the 2024 Presidential Primary Election began: January 19, 2023. The candidate filing deadline is Friday, February 9, 2024 at 9:00 p.m.

You must be a registered voter and a resident of the district for which you are filing.

Filing Requirements for Candidacy

Federal and State Offices are filed at the State Board of Elections. The following County Candidates must be filed at the Prince George's County Board of Elections:

Board of Education - Districts 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8

Financial Disclosures


Financial disclosures are completed for the previous calendar year.  Any candidate that files for office during calendar year 2023 MUST file an updated financial disclosure after January 1, 2024.  The State Board of Elections requests that updated disclosures are filed prior to the candidate filing deadline (no later than February 20, 2024). If an updated financial disclosure is not received, the candidate will be removed from the ballot (see: 2023-2024 Financial Disclosure Notification).  If you have any questions about the disclosures, please contact the appropriate agency where they are filed.

Filing Fee
There is a filing fee of $25. The fee for Central Committee is $10. The fee must be paid by either credit card, check, money order or cash. 

NOTE:  Deadline for a candidate to withdraw candidacy before the primary election is Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
