May is Mental Health Awareness and Physical Fitness and Sports Month, and in recognition of this, the Prince George’s County Local Behavioral Health Authority and Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation are proud to partner and host this vital expo. Our goal is to bring together the community and various general health, mental health, wellness, and substance use treatment professionals in the County.
At the Adult Behavioral Health Expo, attendees will have the opportunity to explore valuable resources, connect with organizations, attend fitness demonstrations, and receive FREE giveaways. We believe in fostering an environment of support and education, where individuals can learn more about crisis intervention, suicide prevention, addiction, depression, physical fitness, and more.

Who We Are
The Local Behavioral Health Authority (LBHA) of the Prince George’s County Health Department is responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring publicly funded behavioral health services in Prince George’s County. We plan for behavioral health programs and services to ensure quality, accessible mental health, substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery services are available to assist residents of all ages.
With local, state, and federal funding, we implement services not publicly funded. To accomplish this, we collaborate with community partners to provide grant-funded services that improve community health outcomes.
Services
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health or substance use, the LBHA is here to help. Our caring team provides support in various ways:
- Resources for persons with Medical Assistance or no insurance
- Specialty services for children, adults, and the elderly
- Locating outpatient treatment services
- Locating case management services
- Locating residential treatment services
- Locating Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders
- Accessing crisis services
- Purchasing psychotropic medications in special situations
- Identifying support groups, including peer and family recovery support groups
- Information about advocating for your child’s behavioral health needs
- Behavioral health training opportunities
- Housing options, including residential rehabilitation programs for individuals with mental illness

Many schools in Prince George's County have counselors who support students' mental health. Ask your school for more information about mental health resources.
Local Care Team
Parents or caregivers, if you're dealing with challenges such as working with multiple behavioral health agencies or not knowing where to find services, contact the Department of Family Services at (301) 265-8446 for more information about the Local Care Team. This team of professionals and advocates can help guide you.

Funding Opportunities for Providers
The LBHA is currently seeking recovery residences interested in becoming MCOR certified.

Request for Letters of Support
Stakeholders and community members may request a letter of support for grant proposals and other projects. Please attach a draft letter that includes:
