Public Notice
Effective May 10, 2024
Adoption Fees Waived Through May 31, 2024
Our facility seeks pet adopters and fosters to address the critical capacity of the dog population at the shelter, especially large and senior dogs.
While the facility has resumed accepting owner surrenders, the ASFAC stresses that the public should only consider bringing their pets to the shelter as a last resort. Before surrendering a pet, owners are encouraged to:
- Contact one of our County-approved rescue organizations to see if they can accept your pet.
- Consider rehoming your pet with family and friends.

Donations Needed
ASD is strongly encouraging donations of Kuranda beds of all sizes for our doggie friends, There are lots of benefits for pets sleeping on Kuranda Beds, including:
- Kuranda Beds are the superior choice in shelters and rescues due to their durability and added protection of a 1-Year Chew Proof Warranty.
- Shelters prefer Kuranda beds since they are easy to clean and sanitize, minimizing the spread of infectious disease.
- The elevated sleep surface helps regulate body temperature, both in warmer and cooler months.
- The orthopedic design alleviates pressure points on joints.
- Quality sleep reduces stress which keeps animals healthy and feeling good while they await their forever homes.
