Jim Chandler, CEcd

Jim Chandler is a certified Economic Development (CEcD) professional with a focus the management of local urban revitalization, real estate development and programs with Federal, State, and local funding. 


Jim currently serves as Assistant Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Economic Development in Prince George’s County, Maryland.  In this role, Jim leads the County’s real estate development efforts including TOD focused development of the Blue Line Corridor, New Carrolton Transit Hub and a member of the FBI-Greenbelt site development team. 


Prior to joining Prince George’s County Government, Jim served 16-years as Assistant City Administrator and Director of Community & Economic Development with the City of Hyattsville, Maryland.  In this role, he lead the City’s economic development and revitalization program, heading up projects including the adaptive reuse of the Arcade Building, which now serves as the home of Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center and Anacostia Trails Heritage Area (ATHA) and his team developing the City's 2017-2021 Community Sustainability Plan, which was recognized by the National Capital Area Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) for ‘Outstanding Plan’.  In his duties as Assistant City Administrator, he lead the modernization of City’s parking operations division, modernizing the City's IT infrastructure and developing the City’s long-range facilities planning. 
 

Jim is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a BA in Political Science and a Masters of Public Policy from Stony Brook University.  He served as a Board Member of the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area (ATHA), is an active member of the Maryland Economic Development Association’s Professional Development Committee and in 2011 earned his Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification from the International Economic Development Council.
