We’re excited that Whitman-Walker’s 40th anniversary year will culminate with our signature community event, and that it coincides with the 30th Anniversary of World AIDS Day.
Held for the past 32 years, the Walk & 5K to End HIV is Whitman-Walker Health’s signature fundraiser that calls on thousands of Washington, DC area residents to lace up their shoes and walk or run to support WWH’s mission of providing health care to those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Join AAHP this World AIDS Day, Saturday, December 1 for “Health is the New Wealth” at the Silver Spring Civic Center. “Health is the New Wealth” will provide sexual health education and resources in a fun, safe environment. Music, food, and condoms will be in abundance.
World AIDS Day is observed every December 1 to show solidarity in the fight against HIV/AIDS/STI, as well as to raise awareness on the reality of HIV/AIDS/STI. In recent years, Montgomery County has been rocked by a steady rise in STI, marked by the highest numbers of gonorrhea and chlamydia in the past ten years, with Black residents impacted at several times the rate of White residents. The data suggests that many people are not having protected sex.
Let's celebrate good health AND focus on promoting safe sex!
Special guest speakers and moderators will spur lively conversations on a variety of important topics, such as: living your best, healthiest life, enjoying safe sex, date rape, STD Awareness, PrEP
December 1, 2018, 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Community Partners meetings are a partnership between the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T), the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement (DPIE), the Department of the Environment (DoE), and the community. The meetings are held three times a year and provide an opportunity for community members to be briefed on the agencies’ different projects, events, initiatives, etc. They’re also a great way for the community to interact with the agencies’ leadership staff, and ask any questions they may have.
This meeting’s agenda will include (but is not limited to) such topics as snow operations, snow and ice removal, holiday waste collection schedule, and holiday recycling tips.
