PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS ADVISES SOME PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY VOTERS WERE MAILED BALLOT INSTRUCTIONS IN SPANISH

Prince George’s County election officials will work diligently with the State Board of Elections to quickly resolve the issue.

UPPER MARLBORO, On May 6, 2020, the Prince George’s County Board of Elections (PGCBOE) discovered that there was an error in the ballot mailings sent by the Maryland State Board of Elections for the June 2, 2020 Vote By Mail Primary Election. Unfortunately, some Prince George’s County voters were mailed the ballot instructions only in Spanish. The ballot instructions for Prince George’s County voters were to be printed and mailed in both English and Spanish.

The PGCBOE was made aware of the error when it began receiving phone calls from voters concerned that they received the ballot instructions only in Spanish. Once PGCBOE became aware that there was a problem, they immediately notified the State Board of Elections (SBE) to inform SBE of the issue. The Prince George’s County Board of Elections will work diligently with the State Board of Elections to identify which voters were affected by the error. On May 6, 2020, the Prince George’s County Board of Elections placed a link to the English Instructions for its voters on its website: elections.mypgc.us. The PGCBOE responded to all voters that contacted the office to date by immediately mailing or e-mailing the English instructions. The State Board of Elections has already agreed to mail all affected voters the correct instructions. If voters who were affected by this issue wish to access these instructions sooner to cast their ballot, they can view the instructions online at elections.mypgc.us, or they can call the PGCBOE at 301-341-7300.
