Statement from Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III
Upper Marlboro, MD – Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III released this statement following today’s news of a historic donation to the University of Maryland by A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation:
“Congratulations to Dr. Loh, the board and the entire University of Maryland community on the historic $219.5 million contribution from the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation. As Prince George’s County’s largest single site employer and the State’s flagship higher education institution, we have long recognized the preeminence of the University and the tremendous contribution it makes to this County, the State, the Washington Metropolitan Area, and the world of higher education.
The University of Maryland is one of this country’s premiere universities and this investment will absolutely enhance what is already a top-flight institution. Thousands of Prince Georgians are educated at this great university and I would like to add my personal thanks to the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation for raising the bar and showing others how important it is to invest in Maryland’s future.”
