[ARCHIVED] Clear the Shelters is Back!

Prince George’s County Animal Services Facility teams up with NBC4 to host third annual pet adopt drive

Largo, Maryland – Prince George’s County is teaming up with local television station NBC4 Washington (WRC-TV) to host Clear the Shelters – a pet adoption event encouraging those who are considering adding a pet to their family and home to adopt before they shop!

On Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 10 AM to 4 PM, at the Department of the Environment (DoE) Animal Services Facility, located in Upper Marlboro, will offer FREE* pet adoptions as part of the Clear the Shelters initiative. A wide variety of pets, including dogs, cats, fish, turtles, lizards, and even a duck, are available for adoption. Many of the pets waiting for adoption have been observed for behavior issues, are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.

“We’re very excited to once again participate in this special event and work with NBC4 to Clear the Shelters. Our friendly and resourceful staff will be available the entire day providing guidance throughout the process to potential adopters. From selecting the best pet, to what to expect when your new pet arrives home and how to responsibly care for your pet to ensure a healthy and long life, our pet adoption counselors and volunteers are ready and willing to help,” said Rodney Taylor, Associate Director of the Animal Services Facility.
