[ARCHIVED] Free School Immunizations For PGCPS Students This Week And Throughout August

Kaiser Permanente Largo Medical Center and the Maryland Partnership for Prevention are offering free immunization clinics for PGCPS students throughout the month of August.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – With the 2017-2018 school year beginning next month, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) reminds parents that Maryland State Law requires students enrolled in prekindergarten through grade 12 to receive age-appropriate immunizations before attending school.Parents with children entering kindergarten or seventh grade should pay particularly close attention. Enrolling PGCPS kindergarteners will need two doses of Varicella (chickenpox vaccine). Students preparing to enter seventh grade need two vaccines — Tdap and Meningitis.

Families who have yet to complete vaccinations have several options.

Kaiser Permanente Largo Medical Center is offering a free immunization clinic for PGCPS students on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August 4 at 1221 Mercantile Lane in Upper Marlboro.

The Maryland Partnership for Prevention is also hosting free summer immunization clinics as follows:

  • Northwestern High School, Hyattsville: August 1 and August, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and August 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Oxon Hill High School: August 2, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Beltway Plaza, Greenbelt: August 19, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • The Shops at Iverson, Suitland: August 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Additionally, the Prince George’s County Health Department is hosting immunization clinics for youth (up to age 18) with limited or no health insurance at two locations: Cheverly Health Center, 3003 Hospital Drive in Cheverly and and D. Leonard Dyer Regional Health Center, 9314 Piscataway Rd. in Clinton. To make an appointment contact 301-583-3386.

PGCPS will also provide free immunizations at the annual Back-to-School Fair at Prince George’s Stadium on Saturday, August 26.
