[ARCHIVED] Redevelopment Authority Selects Development Team Led by Mission First Housing Development Corp.

The Redevelopment Authority of Prince George's County (RDA) has selected the Suitland Senior Partners as its development partner to develop the Suitland Senior Residences at Town Square in Suitland, MD.

Largo, MD --- The Redevelopment Authority of Prince George's County (RDA) has selected the Suitland Senior Partners as its development partner to develop the Suitland Senior Residences at Town Square in Suitland, MD. Suitland Senior Partners consists of Mission First Housing Development Corporation, L.A. Bolden Company, The Henson Development Company. The 6-story, 137 unit apartment building will cost $28,000,000 and will include both market rate units and income restricted units. It will feature Energy Star fixtures and appliances, glazed ceramic tile surrounds in bathtubs and showers, energy efficient windows, and senior friendly carpet, appliances and plumbing fixtures. The common area features include: a fitness room, a rooftop garden for entertaining, coffee bar and cyber café, yoga garden, a wellness/TeleMed Center and two social rooms for a host of activities and entertaining. “Suitland has the highest number of senior households in Prince George's County,” said Howard Ways, Executive Director of the RDA. The development of the Suitland Town Center must include new housing for seniors, especially those who want to age in place and remain in their neighborhood. We are pleased with Mission First Housing Group’s track record and look forward to their development.” The Galilee Community Development Corporation (Galilee CDC) and Housing Options & Planning Enterprises, Inc. (H.O.P.E.) will provide needed social services for senior residents which will include: local outreach from churches, senior centers and medical facilities; the Renaissance Senior Academy will provide information sessions on health, finance and nutrition, and group activities will include trips, movies and speakers, as well as assistance with resident-directed activities such as book clubs, religious studies, crafts, games and exercise. “The Suitland Town Center will be a walkable community and residents of the Suitland Senior Residences at Town Square will be able to walk to shopping, entertainment and other activities without leaving their neighborhood, said Eric C. Brown, Director of the Prince George's County Department of Housing and Community Development. The Suitland Senior Residences at Town Square will be open for occupancy in 2018.
