[ARCHIVED] Gold Leaf Award

Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) Receives 2016 Gold Leaf Award

LARGO, MD – Prince George’s County’s Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) accepted the 2016 Gold Leaf Award for outstanding landscape beautification presented to the Right Tree Right Place Team and the Prince George’s County Clean Up Green Up Team. The award was presented at the Mid-Atlantic Chapter International Society of Arboriculture Conference on October 4, 2016 at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.

“We are humbled and honored by this prestigious award that was accepted on behalf of the department by our ISA Certified Arborist, Wayne Lucas,” said DPW&T Director Darrell Mobley. “The teams for the Right Tree Right Place Program and the Prince George’s County Clean Up Green Up, have worked tiresly to make these projects a success and to enhance the landscape of communities in Prince George’s County.”

There were many partners and stakeholders involved on both of these projects, led by the Neighborhood Design Center’s Patricia Valentine. The projects required teams to be assembled for tree removal, tree installations, tree inspections, streetscape design and mapping. DPW&T partnered with the Department of the Environment; Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission; Prince George’s County School Board; Prince George’s County Executive’s office; Forest Valley Tree and Turf; and F&F Landscaping to assist with the completion of the projects.

DPW&T realizes that its partners, stakeholders and communities make it possible to receive such outstanding awards as the 2016 Gold Leaf Award and looks forward to continuing to work with them for the beautification of landscapes in Prince George’s County.
