County E-Waste Recycling Events Set for Nov. 5 and Dec. 3

Free electronic events will accept unwanted TVs, computer equipment, printers and much more!

Largo, MD – The Prince George’s County Department of the Environment Recycling Section, will hold an electronics recycling drop-off event on November 5, 2016 at High Point Senior High School, 3601 Powder Mill Road in Beltsville and on December 3, 2016 at Surrattsville High School, 6101 Garden Drive in Clinton; both events will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This electronics recycling event is FREE and open to all Prince George’s County residents (proper identification may be required).

“This FREE E-Cycling event allows County residents to be environmentally responsible in safely unloading their old computers, television sets and other outdated, unusable or unwanted electronic items for proper recycling,” says Adam Ortiz, DoE Director.

Items accepted include up to five televisions and computer monitors, as well as computer hardware, printers, copiers, FAX machines, shredders, computer cables, cell phones, laptops, tablets, DVD/VCR’s, stereo equipment, radios, phone systems, video game equipment and USB devices.

Items not accepted include vacuum cleaners, appliances, humidifiers/dehumidifiers, coffee makers, fryers/grills, power tools, yard tools, fans, light fixtures, alkaline batteries, and packaging from your electronics, such as boxes, Styrofoam and plastic packaging materials. Prince George’s County businesses that pre-register with the Recycling Section by calling 301-883-3635 may be able to participate and recycle their electronics for free. Due to limitations, this is a first call, first serve opportunity for the commercial sector.
