[ARCHIVED] FREE NBC4 Allstate Community Shred Event Returns!

Shred up to 5 boxes of your personal and confidential documents onsite

Largo, MD – Prince George’s County Government in partnership with NBC4, Allstate, Shred-it and Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) will host the NBC4 Allstate Community Shred Event on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. at PGCC, 301 Largo Road, Parking Lot B in Largo. This event is free and open to the public.

“Discarding personal and confidential information in your household trash is a dangerous practice that can make you susceptible to identity theft,” says Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III. “I invite everyone residing in Prince George’s County and the entire metro region to protect your personal information and identity by disposing of your outdated documents at this free shred event.”

Participants can bring up to five archive boxes or paper bags of their personal and confidential documents to shred onsite. All vehicles must be in line by 11 a.m. at the intersection of Prince Place and Campus Way South in order to discard their items. No documents will be accepted by walk-in. Participants are reminded not to bring batteries, flammables, combustibles, electronic equipment (hard drives), media materials (DVDs, CDs, and tapes), binders or hanging files.

Shred-it recycles all shredded paper documents. All cardboard boxes are recycled at the County’s Materials Recycling Facility in Capitol Heights. More than 32 tons of cardboard have been salvaged from the past community shred events.
