Free School Supplies donated by the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections to be given out at Suitland Elementary School on First Day of School
UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III and Prince George’s State’s Attorney, Angela Alsobrooks will join the Prince George’s Department of Corrections to welcome Suitland Elementary School students back to school with a new book bag filled with school supplies at the annual Pencil Box Project at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.
The Pencil Box Project has been organized by the Department of Corrections for more than 20 years. Each year the Department of Corrections holds internal fund raising events in which the department’s staff contribute generously and it is directly due to their generous giving that allows the project to thrive.
Elementary schools in the County Executive Baker’s Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative areas are chosen to receive the supplies and funds are donated by employees within most county agencies and community organizations. This year the Suitland Civic Association joined in the giving.
