County Executive Baker to Join Montgomery County Executive Leggett and Pepco President & CEO Velazquez to Announce Millions of Dollars in Merger Benefit in Jobs, Energy Efficiency & Sustainability for Prince George’s County and Montgomery County Residents

Upper Marlboro, MD: Tomorrow, June 9, 2016 at 4:00 p.m., Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III will join Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett and Pepco President and CEO David M. Velazquez to announce the community benefits to the residents provided by the recent Pepco-Exelon merger. Pepco and Exelon are providing $25 million to Montgomery and Prince George’s counties to support workforce development, job creation, energy efficiency and sustainability programs.

Included are funds to stimulate public and private investment in community solar, electricity storage, microgrids water conservation in buildings, clean transportation, and similar emerging energy technologies. The funding is the direct result of the merger between Exelon and Pepco Holdings and is part of a wide-ranging package of benefits worth $133 million for Pepco Maryland customers. Pepco’s Maryland residential customers have already received the first of two $50 bill credits and the company has cancelled past-due amounts that were more than two years old on the bills of its Maryland residential customers. Additional merger benefits will also be forthcoming
