LARGO, MD – The Prince George’s County Health Department’s PreventionLink program and the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Facility have partnered to host a full day of workshops, seminars, and wellness experiences in recognition of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. The SPLEX Family Fun and Fitness Day will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex at 8001 Sheriff Road in Landover. The event is free to the public, and registration is not required. The expo will feature multiple activities and experiences relevant to maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Residents will have the opportunity to attend workshops on topics such as healthy eating, dispelling fitness myths, mental health awareness, stress management, and diabetes prevention. There will be activities for the entire family, including a fitness challenge and a mini health fair. Attendees can also participate in fitness and wellness demonstrations, health screenings, and learn about healthy food options. PreventionLink is a community-based Prince George’s County Health Department program dedicated to alleviating chronic disease and other health disparities by engaging communities in health-promotion activities and initiatives.
