Prince George's County to Host “Lives Shatter on Impact” Testimonial Wall Exhibit at Prince George’s Community College
LARGO, MD –The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is hosting the Street Smart “Lives Shatter on Impact” Testimonial Wall exhibit at the Prince George’s Community College main campus on February 14-16, 2022. This is the latest event under the Vision Zero Prince George’s initiative to eliminate traffic deaths and severe injuries on County roadways by 2040.
The Testimonial Wall exhibit tells stories of traffic victims from our region and provides tips on safe use of the road, whether you drive, bike, or walk. The exhibit displays this information in both English and Spanish. Visitors will also learn about Vision Zero Prince George's and how they can get involved with the initiative.
“We are Prince George’s Proud to host the Testimonial Wall exhibit for the Prince George’s Community College community, pushing a crucial education effort of Vision Zero Prince George’s,” said Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. “Sharing these stories and communicating safe road practices will help move our County toward zero traffic deaths and severe injuries on our roads.”
“Every day, we feel the impact of preventable crashes in our County,” said Acting Director Martin Harris of DPW&T. “This exhibit is an important reminder of the role we all have to prevent them.”
Street Smart is a regionwide bicycle and pedestrian safety campaign by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG). In the past, the Testimonial Wall exhibit has been at Union Station, the Mall at Prince George’s, Westfield Wheaton, Pentagon City Mall and DCUSA Shopping Center in Washington, DC.
Visitors are invited to view the exhibit, take a survey on the exhibit’s effectiveness, and take the Vision Zero Safety Pledge. Information on Vision Zero Prince George’s - including the Action Plan, statistics detailing pedestrian, vehicle and bicycle incidents, and a listing of roadway safety projects in Prince George’s County - is available at www.VisionZeroPrinceGeorges.com.
