1. There is a lot of election-related information regarding the 2020 Presidential General Election in Prince George’s County. How do I know what information is true?
So far during this election cycle, a lot of misinformation has been disseminated. If you have any questions or are unsure of the validity of the information that you’ve received, please visit the Prince George’s County Board of Elections website on, call the office on 301-341-7300 or email us on

2. I called the Board of Elections office and there is a long wait. What should I do?
Due to the unusual high volume of calls, we are asking that you remain patient. If you choose to do so, when prompted by the voice activation system, you can enter your telephone number to receive a call back from the next available representative. Selecting that option would reduce the time that you are on hold.

3. What are the dates for the 2020 Presidential General Election and Early Voting?
• Election day is Tuesday, November 3, 2020 (7am-8pm).
• Early Voting begins on Monday, October 26 and ends on Monday, November 2, 2020 (7am-8pm each day).

4. What is the safest way to vote?
To reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19, we encourage voters to vote by mail. You should have been mailed an application by now. However, if you haven’t, there are three ways you can request a mail-in ballot NOW:

Online if you have a Maryland’s driver’s license or MVA-issued ID card.
• Complete and return one of the forms below. Read the instructions, enter the required information, print the form, sign it, and return it to your local board of elections. You can return it by mail, fax, or email (scanned as an attachment).

• Get one from the Prince George’s County Board of Elections Office, 1100 Mercantile Lane, Suite 115A, Largo, MD, 20774 complete, and turn in the form.

5. Will I be mailed an actual ballot like in the 2020 Primary Election?
No. You will not automatically be mailed a ballot. You will only receive a ballot if you request one. You can do that one of three ways as indicated in Question 4 of this document.

6. When will I receive my ballot once my application is processed?
The first round of ballots were mailed on Friday, September 25th. They will be mailed to voters who requested them every day thereafter.

7. What is the deadline to submit the application to receive a mail-in ballot?
All ballot applications must be returned to the Prince George’s County Board of Elections Office no later than Monday, October 20, 2020. The application must be physically in the office by 4:30 pm on that date. To ensure that you receive a ballot in a timely manner, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you submit your ballot application much earlier than the deadline.

8. What kind of ID is required to cast a ballot by mail?
If you are a registered voter and voted before, no ID is required to receive or submit a ballot by mail. A very small number of newly registered voters may need to provide ID with their voted ballots. If you have to provide ID, there will be instructions with your ballot.

9. I am hearing a lot of negative information about the United States Post Office and no longer trust it. Can I drop my ballot in a Board of Elections Drop Box?
Yes. The Prince George’s County Board of Elections will have drop boxes in 42 locations throughout the County. Any ballots dropped in those boxes will be picked up by Board of Elections’ staff and delivered directly to the Prince George’s County Board of Elections Office. The first 22 ballot drop boxes have already been placed and are now available for use. The next 20 ballot drop boxes will be available for use by October 15th - 17th. 10. Can I vote in person?
If you have requested a mail-in ballot but decide to go to an early voting or Election Day Vote Center, you will have to vote using a provisional ballot.  Mail-in ballots cannot be traded in or destroyed at the early voting or Election Day Vote Center.  Please note that provisional ballots are NOT counted until the second Wednesday/Thursday after the election.

11. Did any of the Early Voting Sites Change?
Yes. Several of the Early Voting sites in Prince George’s County’s changed. Click here for the early voting sites.

12. How do I know if I am registered to vote?
If you aren’t sure if you are registered, or at what address, check your voter registration status by visiting our voter lookup site:

13. Can voters register to vote online?
Voters can register online if they have a Maryland driver’s license or Motor Vehicle Administration state ID by clicking on this online voter registration link.
The deadline to register to vote is 5pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

14. Is ID required to register to vote?
No, but you must provide some information so election officials can verify your identity.

If you use the State Board’s online system to register, you must enter your Maryland driver’s license number or Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) issued state ID number, the date MVA issued your license or ID card, and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. If you reside outside of the United States or are a member of the military or spouse or dependent of a member of the military, you must enter the last 4 digits of your US social security number. If you provide a license or State ID number, your signature on file with the MVA will become your official voter registration signature. If you provide a social security number, it will be used as your official voter registration signature.
