UPPER MARLBORO, MD – During a court hearing 33-year old Dominique Taylor pled guilty to 6 counts of motor vehicle manslaughter. She now faces up to 30 years in prison, according State’s Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy.
In February 2019, Taylor was driving her SUV while she was under the influence on Route 301 in Bowie. She veered off the road and crashed into a tree, killing five children. She was the mother of two of children, London Dixon, 8 and Paris Dixon. Rickelle Ricks, 6; Zion Beard, 14, and Damari Herald, 15 also died as a result of the accident. The investigation revealed that Taylor’s blood alcohol level was .16. An adult passenger in the vehicle, Cornell Simon, died from his injuries several weeks after the crash.
Following the hearing, State’s Attorney Braveboy said, “This is very tragic case. I think Ms. Taylor’s decision to plead guilty was the right choice. A trial would probably have been unbearable for all parties involved. Anytime a defendant accepts responsibility we believe that is a good thing especially in a case like this.”
Taylor will be sentenced on January 13th.###
