LARGO, MD – Maury Avenue between Irving Street and Audrey Lane located in Oxon Hill will be temporarily closed for up to 60 days sometime between now and June 30, 2016 for construction of road improvements associated with the new Patriots Landing Development. The new townhome development and associated road improvements in the Oxon Hill community of Glassmanor are the result of County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III’s Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative, which includes promotion of economic development and infrastructure enhancements to designated areas inside the Beltway.

The temporary closure, which will not be scheduled until the weather remains at or above 50 degrees, will be implemented with the following conditions:

• Providing a two-week notice prior to the temporary closing to residents, local elected officials and appropriate local and state agencies.

• Posting signs in the area to alert residents about the closing.

• Maintaining and providing a Detailed Traffic Maintenance Control and Detour Plan distributed within the community and on the County’s Website prior to the closure.

• Providing access for local residents and emergency personnel to the residences affected by the closing.

Roadway enhancements that are to be done as part of the Patriots Landing permit include curb/gutter, storm drains, sidewalks, street lights, street trees and roadway pavement overlay.
