County Executive To Announce New Grocery Store In Food Desert Area: Alsobrooks Will Discuss Strategy To Address Food Deserts

LARGO, MD –Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks will host a press conference on Monday, April 1st to welcome Good Food Market to Addison Plaza in Seat Pleasant.

The 3,800 square foot store will offer a café with healthy grab and go food options, fresh produce and many other amenities. The store will help to address the food desert issue that has plagued the area since Safeway closed their location in the shopping center in 2016.

Alsobrooks will also discuss her administration’s targeted approach to addressing food deserts in the county. According to recent data from the USDA, approximately 15 percent of county residents are impacted by food deserts, the highest percentage in the region and also higher than the state average of 12 percent.
