LARGO, MD – Prince George’s County’s Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is prepared for the possibility of snow this coming weekend – Saturday, January 12, 2019 into Sunday, January 13, 2019. As of now, the Department is organizing a Saturday mobilization.
“We will be keeping a close eye on the forecast over the coming days; and we’ll ensure our mobilization efforts are on par with the weather event,” said Terry Bellamy, DPW&T’s Acting Director. “Our
job is to create safe roads for everyone travelling on County roadways.”
“County residents are encouraged to be prepared and stay informed of the weather as we head into thisweekend,” said Prince George’s County Executive, Angela D. Alsobrooks. “We’re all in this together, so when winter weather strikes everyone has a role to play – from DPW&T crews plowing County roads to residents making sure their sidewalks are
shoveled.”
To aid residents in their preparation, DPW&T has several pieces of winter-related literature on our website – everything from the 2018 Snow Summit presentation and helpful hints for dealing with snow events, to our snow removal tracking site. All that information canbe found at:
https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/1041/Snow-Ice-Control
DPW&T recommends County residents download the PGCTrip app. There, they have access to traffic cameras,
pavement temperatures, TheBus schedules, and our snow removal tracking site.
Lastly, DPW&T wants to remind County residents that during a winter weather eventthey are asked to wait 24 hours, after the precipitation has stopped, to call
311 to report concerns about snow removal/roadway conditions.
