The Homicide Unit is responsible for investigating, charging and presenting at trial all homicides that occur in the county. Further, the Unit assists Prince George’s County Police detectives with investigating all suspicious deaths by providing legal support and advice, reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses. Homicide prosecutions are complex and emotional cases often involving expert scientific testimony and difficult legal issues and; take approximately 12 to 24 months to complete.
