Explore Our Role in Ending the HIV Epidemic

Prince George’s County is part of a bold national initiative to end the HIV epidemic in America. The goal is to reduce new infections by 75 percent in five years and at least 90 percent over the next decade.

Working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Prince George’s County is accelerating progress in eliminating new HIV infections by securing additional funding, expertise, technology, and other resources to the county and 47 other targeted jurisdictions nationwide.

Prince George’s County government, its residents, and community partners are ready to harness this unique opportunity and this important moment in history to take control of a disease that has profoundly impacted too many of our communities and taken the lives of too many of our loved ones for decades. The county is proud to be a part of global history by playing a leading role in eliminating the HIV epidemic.

Prince George’s County, Maryland will become a place where new HIV infections are rare and when they do occur, every person, regardless of age, gender, race-ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or socio-economic circumstance, will have unfettered access to high quality life extending care, free of stigma and discrimination, free or at an affordable cost.
