Mental Health Treatment Resources

During this most difficult period, the first step is to consult your Primary Care Physician for an appropriate referral if you have insurance. This is to avoid any future financial burdens as a result of going out of your insurance network.

The Maryland Crisis Hotline can be reached at 800-422-0009. Individuals in crisis can also call 211 for Maryland’s response services.

Health Care Resources

Pregnant women and children, birth through age 5, can contact WIC to see if they are eligible for assistance at 1-800-242-4942. More information about the WIC program and locations in Prince George’s County is available here: https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/2036/Women-Infants-Children-WIC

Any adult (21 years and older) or minor (10 to 20 years) that loses health insurance coverage can get care with the Health Department at the Cheverly Health Clinic and the Healthy Teens and Young Adults Program on a sliding fee schedule. No one is turned away because of their inability to pay.

  • The Healthy Teens and Young Adults Program, located in Landover, MD, provides family planning, STI/HIV testing, and sexual education services to female residents of Prince George’s County between the ages of 10 and 24 years.   • Many types of health care services are offered at the Cheverly Health Center, including dental, immunizations, reproductive health, behavioral health, and substance use treatment services. There is a sliding fee schedule for anyone without health insurance coverage. The Cheverly Health Center can be contacted at 301-583-5920 and is located at 3003 Hospital Drive, Cheverly, MD 20785.
