#BikePrinceGeorges -- Celebrate National Bike Month by swapping out your four wheels for two! Give it a try! Not only is biking a healthy activity, it's also fun, environmentally-friendly, and economically-friendly.
All month long, events will be taking place across the County -- including Bike to Work Week (Monday, May 14, 2018 - Friday, May 18, 2018) and Bike to Work Day (Friday, May 18, 2018).
Friday, May 18, 2018 -- Bike to Work Day (Rain or Shine) ---- Largo Pit Stop POSTPONED due to the inclement weather (new date TBD)
The Washington metropolitan region will have 100 registered bicycle pit stops on Bike to Work Day -- including 12 in Prince George's County. For the first time, Prince George's County will host a pit stop! It will be in Largo outside the Wayne K. Curry Administration Building (1301 McCormick Drive) -- look for the RideSmart tent. The pit stop will be open from 6:30am until 8:30am. There will be healthy snacks, water, giveaways, and more! Plus, TheBus will be on site for demonstrations on how to use its bicycle rack.
If you're interested in exploring the area on your bicycle, County bike police, and local cycling group the BeechTree Pedalers, will lead convoys from the Largo pit stop to the Largo Metro Station and back.
Be sure to stay at the Largo pit stop because at 9am there will be an exciting announcement about Capital Bikeshare and Prince George's County from County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III!
DPW&T is partnering with the Prince George's County Departments of Health and the Environment, Prince George's County Police Department, and the BeechTree Pedalers for the Largo pit stop.
We hope to see you there!
