Victims’ Rights - Assisting Victims & Witnesses

The SAO provides direct assistance and information regarding court proceedings Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., through the Victim/Witness Unit. This unit assists victims and witnesses in the following ways:
  • ​Resolving potential conflicts between the victim/witness and his or her employer regarding the victim’s/witness’s absence from work by contacting employers by telephone and/or providing letters to the employers.
  • Providing secure waiting rooms while the victim/witness waits to testify in court proceedings.
  • Aiding eligible victims to obtain court-ordered restitution and compensation for physical injuries sustained as a result of the offense.
  • Providing information to the victim regarding available social services.
