Bus Passes

TheBus accepts cash and SmarTrip cards for payment of fares. Pennies are not accepted. Bus-to-bus transfers are free only when using SmarTrip. Other passes are available (such as weekly or monthly). Please have exact fare ready when you board. Drivers do not carry change.

Senior Services

Seniors (60+) and persons with disabilities and Medicare card holders with a valid photo ID ride TheBus Free-of-charge during normal operational hours from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday - Friday. Riders just have to present one form of proper identification - driver’s license, Metro Senior/Metro Disabled/MetroAccess card, or similar ID - to the bus driver. In addition, persons with disabilities with a MetroAccess ID may bring one personal companion with them on board; TheBus at no charge. Complementing the County’s transit system, TheBus, MetroAccess provides service for persons with disabilities who are unable to use the regular transit systems and have been certified eligible. Kids Fares

Starting on Monday, June 3, 2019, “Kids Ride Free” on TheBus is available to students, ages 5-18, all day Monday - Friday, during regular and modified service hours. Students must present proper identification to the bus driver to be eligible to ride for free during the hours of operation. In addition, Prince George’s County students enrolled in the Youth?Work Program sponsored through the County’s Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) can ride for free on “TheBus” by simply flashing their ID badge to the operator before boarding the bus.

Bus Rules

No smoking. No eating or drinking. No pets or animals; service animals are permitted. Electronic devices with earphones only. Buses stop only at designated stops.

Use of "Segways" on Transportation Vehicles

Patrons are welcome to board the bus with a stroller using the ramp. For the safety of riders and bus operator, when using strollers please fold and stow once onboard the bus. Please ensure priority seating remains available for persons with disabilities.
