Financial Hardship

The Prince George’s County Department of the Environment has established a Financial Hardship Exemption Program for residential property owners who can demonstrate substantial financial hardship as a result of the Clean Water Act Fee. To be eligible for financial hardship status, a property owner must have received the Homeowners Tax Credit from the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation during the tax year for which the fee is billed. To continue receiving the tax credit, residential property owners will need to apply annually to the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation. No application to the Department will be required. Upon determination of homeowner eligibility, the County’s Office of Finance shall provide a suspension of the fee in its entirety for the eligible tax year.
