Several Affordable Care Act Events Taking Place In Prince George’s County On Saturday, October 5, 2013

Maryland Health Connection Bus Enrollment Tour Event at Laurel High School with Senator James Rosapepe and several other enrollment opportunities happening in the County

LANDOVER, MD - - This weekend, Prince George’s County residents can participate in the first of many Maryland Health Connection enrollment events taking place in the County.  On Saturday, October 5, Senator James Rosapepe from District 21, will host a health forum at Laurel High School where people can get enrollment assistance for the new health care plan.  The Maryland Health Connection Bus will also be on site to further educate residents on the Affordable Care Act and what it means to them. The health care forum will take place from 10a.m. – 4p.m. at Laurel High School located at 8000 Cherry Lane, Laurel, MD.   County residents who wish to enroll the day of the event, should call Senator Rosapepe’s office at 301-858-3141 or go online to www.21stdistrictdelegation.com and make an appointment.
There will also be navigators and assisters available to help uninsured residents understand their options and sign up for free or low costs insurance. Individuals who are prepared to enroll at this time should make sure they have the following information in order to complete their application:

  • Social Security Numbers (or document numbers for any legal immigrants who need insurance).
  • Birthdates and general information about you and your family members who are applying for health coverage.
  • Employer and income information for everyone in your family (paystubs, W-2 forms, or wage and tax statements)
  • Policy numbers for any current health insurance.
  • Information about any job-related health insurance available to your family.

Residents will have six months to enroll into a health care plan and the open enrollment period is from October 1, 2013  to March 31, 2014.  For more information on the Affordable Care Act go to the Prince George’s County website.

In addition to the health forum at Laurel High School, there are several other events taking place on Saturday, October 5, 2013 where County residents can get more information on the Affordable Care Act and/or enroll in a health care plan.
