The County’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) was established for the purpose of stabilizing communities that have suffered from foreclosures and abandonment. The RDA, with its non-profit partners, purchase and rehabilitate foreclosed and abandoned homes and make them available to qualified first time homebuyers. Currently the RDA is focusing resources in the following census tracts in the Suitland and District Heights communities, 8024.05, 8025.06, 8020.02, 8020.01, 8018.02, 8019.02, 8021.05, 9019.07,8019.08, 8021.06, 8021.07; and the following zip codes: 20706, 20737, 20743, 20744, 20745, 20746, 20747, 20748, 20772, 20774, 20784 and 20785.
The Suitland Residential Façade Improvement/Model Blocks and Sustainable Streets Project provides small grants of up to $10,000 to eligible homeowners interested in completing exterior improvements to their home. Eligible repairs include windows, doors, roofs, front steps and porches, landscaping and walkways.
