Sunnyside Avenue Temporarily Closed for Repairs to Railroad Tracks

LARGO, MD - The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) today announced that Sunnyside Avenue will be closed to traffic at the railroad crossing on or about Monday, September 30, 2013 and will reopen to vehicular traffic on Monday, October 7, 2013.  The road will be temporarily closed while CSX replaces a defective rail at the crossing.


Once Sunnyside Avenue is closed, detour signs and variable message signs will be placed to direct traffic.  From Route 201/ Edmonston Road, traffic will be detoured to Powder Mill Road and then to Route 1/Baltimore Avenue.


Drivers need to stay alert and look for reduced speeds and detour signs.  Drive Safely! Stay Safe!
