LARGO, MD – Prince George’s County is ready and prepared for the snow forecasted for our area this weekend. Crews will be deployed starting Saturday morning to monitor and treat the roadways.
“Forecasters are predicting a coating of snow to an inch accumulation that may cause slippery road conditions,” said DPW&T Acting Director Darrell Mobley. “County crews will work to treat the primary and major collector roads and then move into the residential areas to clear any snow accumulation from the roadways.”
Motorists are asked to follow these safety tips:
· Add extra time for travel;
· Stay alert and drive carefully;
· Do not follow the snow plows too closely; and
· Bridges, ramps and overpasses will freeze first, so use caution.
County residents are asked to park on the even-numbered sides of residential streets or in their driveways to assist the crews in clearing the roadways. Residents are also requested to shovel their driveways after plowing has occurred and to remove snow/ice from the sidewalks abutting their homes and businesses.
To report roadway conditions, residents are encouraged to wait 12 hours after the precipitation has stopped before calling CountyClick at 3-1-1 or going to the Snow Request Form on the County’s website at www.princegeorgescountymd.gov .
