It's an honor to lead the Prince George's County Police Department as your Chief of Police. As the 29th largest police agency in the nation, our capacity to provide modern, comprehensive, and dynamic policing services to the community is at an all-time high. And our relationships with our federal, state, and municipal law enforcement partners have never been stronger.

Our most important relationship, however, is with you. Modern policing requires more than sophisticated forensics and other headline-catching aspects of law enforcement that seem to demand most of the attention. The most effective crime prevention efforts start and finish with trust. Your level of trust in your police department relies heavily on your personal interactions with police officers and detectives, and is further fueled by your perception of our transparency. That's why I've taken the unprecedented steps to appoint an Inspector General and Media Relations Director from outside of the agency. These civilian appointees bring their unique skills to the PGPD, and enhance our relationship with the community.

The uniformed patrol officers and detectives that continuously interact with the residents of our County are my most valued assets. I expect them to not only be effective crime-fighters, but community ambassadors who exhibit sensitivity, respect, and professionalism. Law enforcement is a challenging and rewarding profession, and my pledge to our community is to treat our relationship as a partnership. One that will afford all of us a safe environment to live, work, and recreate.

There are over 18,000 police departments in the United States, but only one PGPD!
