18 summer interns work with Office of Information and Technology to promote use of technological ideas and innovations to improve County’s most challenging communities

Upper Marlboro, MD: Tomorrow, Friday, August 8, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, Prince George’s County Council Chairman Mel Franklin (D-District 9), Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks, Prince George’s County Public Schools Board of Education Chair Dr. Segun Eubanks, and Prince George’s County Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Nicholas Majett will be among a panel of judges for the Prince George’s County Office of Information Technology’s (OIT) “STEAM Dream Team” technology showcase, to be held at 1800 McCormick Drive in Largo, MD. 

This summer, 18 Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) students were divided into 6 teams that were mentored by business students from Bowie State University.  Each team was charged with using technology to address some of the most challenging issues facing the County’s six Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI) communities of Langley Park, East Riverdale/Bladensburg, Kentland/Palmer Park, Hillcrest Heights/Marlow Heights, Suitland, and Glassmanor/Oxon Hill.  During the showcase, the teams will present their proposed technology solutions before a panel of judges who will determine which group developed the most innovative solutions.
