This office is responsible for coordinating all activities of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Volunteer Assistance Program (VAP).

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides a vital service to the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department. The program coordinates a wide range of mental health and counseling support functions for the members of the Department as well as their families and all retirees. These services help to ensure a healthy work force both physically and mentally.

The key to the success of this program is the dedication of the experienced staff and professional service the EAP provides employee/members in a confidential manner. Each participant receives a comprehensive assessment that guides interventions tailored to suit the needs of the individual.
Assistance can be provided for the following issues:

Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)

  • Work Stress
  • Substance Abuse
  • Co-Dependency and Adult Children of Alcoholics
  • Marital problems
  • Family problems
  • Depression and other Mental Health Issues
  • Weight control
  • Stress management
  • Anger Management
  • Biofeedback
  • Legal problems
  • Financial difficulties
  • Sleep disorders

EAP and CISM services are available 24 hours a day by contacting the EAP Office at 301-883-6270, or by pager at 301-507-8613. We may also be contacted by asking Public Safety Communications or the Operations Center to page the EAP counselor; you do not have to leave your name.
