UPPER MARLBORO, MD - Tomorrow evening, Prince George’s County will host the 3rd Annual recognition ceremony of Eagle Scouts and Gold and Silver Trefoil Award Girl Scouts at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 11525 Prospect Hill Rd, in Glenn Dale, MD.
“These scouts have reached a major accomplishment that very few young people achieve. This honor will forever be a part of their lives,” said Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III. “It is important that we recognize their hard work and keep them engaged in our community. We hope each award recipient will continue to serve and be active Prince George’s County citizens throughout their lives.”
Prince George’s County Circuit Court Judge C. Philip Nichols, Jr. will be the Master of Ceremonies for this event. As a former juvenile court Judge, he has become a strong advocate of scouting as a positive activity and as an alternative to reducing the number of juveniles who end up in the judicial system. To encourage more County youth to get interested and stay involved in scouting, Judge Nichols continues to promote new ways to support scouting in Prince George’s County.
“Scouting is an activity that every young person in our County should have the chance to enjoy,” said Nichols. “It helps to build the next generation of leadership. Our children are our future.”
