UPPER MARLBORO, MD -  Tomorrow, Thursday, April 24, 2014, Prince George's County Executive, Rushern Baker, will be visiting the Gateway Arts District's 39th Street Gallery for the Art Lives Here 2014 official press announcement. County Executive Baker will be meeting with leaders of local art organizations and Art Lives Here partners to kick-off the 2014 season.  Additionally, County Executive Baker will be named honorary chair for the Art Lives Here 2014 season.

Art Lives Here (ALH) is a Gateway Arts District visibility campaign aimed at activating the community through creative place-making events centered around the arts. The campaign is implemented through a community collaboration facilitated by Joe’s Movement Emporium. Planning Partners include Art Works Now, Gateway Community Development Corporation, Joe’s Movement Emporium, Hyattsville Community Development Corporation, The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s African American Museum and Cultural Center, Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council, and Red Dirt Studio. The initiative is supported by ArtPlace America and The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

Following the success in 2013 of Phase I where ALH received a $50,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts toward art projects, ALH Phase II is funded by a $240,000 grant award from ArtPlace America. ALH Phase II continues arts programming grounded in creative place-making with its 2014 programs and initiatives.  For more information about Art Lives Here, please click here.
