On “Final Four Weekend”- community event to draw hundreds of local residents, youth basketball participants, fans and visitors

Upper Marlboro, MD – Prince George’s County is excited about a “Final Four Weekend” that features the Maryland Terrapins Women’s Basketball team battling for the NCAA title.  The Kentland Palmer Park Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI) Team is equally as excited about hosting its 2nd Annual Let’s Hoop Youth Basketball Exhibition featuring former Maryland Terrapin and WNBA player Sonia Chase on Saturday, April 5, 1:00 p.m. at G. James Gholson Middle School in Landover, MD.   This event is open to the public and features exhibition games, skills contest as well as clinics for boys and girls.   Sonia Chase, who is also President and CEO of the Chase Your Dreams Incorporated, will conduct the clinic and skills contest.  This event is designed to provide the community with more information about TNI activities as well as bring youth together in a safe and fun environment. WPGC, 95.5 FM, radio personality, Herkules, will emcee this event.

“It is very appropriate that our Kentland-Palmer Park TNI team will be featuring the ‘Terps of Tomorrow’ with this youth basketball exhibition featuring former Terrapin, Sonia Chase,” said Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III. “This event is just one example of the incredible things our TNI teams are doing throughout our six focus communities in the County.  From last weekend’s East Riverdale/Bladensburg ‘Taste of TNI’ culinary event to job fairs and health screenings, our TNI teams are connecting with the community and bringing government to the people.  Like the teamwork that the Lady Terrapins are displaying on the basketball court, TNI is demonstrating how great teamwork creates opportunities for our citizens.”
