Upper Marlboro, MD – End of summer fun continues in Prince George’s County this weekend with several family events: the inaugural “Taste Prince George’s” Food and Wine Festival at Six Flags in Largo, MD on Saturday, September 7 as well the annual Prince George’s County Fair that will run through Sunday, September 8 at Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD. Additionally, National Harbor will be hosting the one-of-a-kind “Electric Run” tonight and Saturday evening from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
“It is exciting to have three wonderful events taking place in the County this weekend. These events are a great opportunity for families and friends to spend time exploring and discovering some of the attractions that make this County such a great place to live, invest, work and play,” said Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III. “For over a century and half, the annual Prince George’s County Fair has been an entertaining and educational event that promotes the vast and valuable agricultural resources in the County. And the inaugural “Taste Prince George’s” at Six Flags as well as the stimulating “Electric Run” at National Harbor are welcomed additions to our list of September special events.. This weekend, Prince George’s County is the place to be and I encourage people throughout the state and region to come on out and experience Prince George’s County.”
Established in 1842, the Prince George’s County Fair is the oldest county fair in Maryland. The Prince George’s County Fair will be open tonight, Friday September 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, September 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, September 8, the Prince George’s County Fair is having "Military Appreciation Day.” All active duty military and their families will be admitted to the Fair for FREE.
On Saturday, September 7, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the inaugural “Taste Prince George’s” Food and Wine Festival will satisfy all tastes and hunger at Six Flags America in Largo. This culinary and cultural event will bring together Prince George’s best restaurants, chefs, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, competitive eating challenges, and musical guests.
The “Electric Run” at National Harbor consists of music, lights, and dance creating an electric 5K route. Participants will run, walk, and dance through distinct lands with lights and music custom mixed to match the mood of the lighting elements.
