monetary support from Peterson Family Foundation and Walmart Foundation to
assist evacuees of Fort Washington Slope Failure
Upper Marlboro, MD – Today, Prince George’s County
Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, released a statement following an announcement
that the Peterson Family Foundation and the Walmart Foundation committed to
make sizeable donations to assist the families who have been affected by the slope
failure on Piscataway Drive in the Piscataway Hills Community in Fort
“I want to thank the Peterson Family Foundation
and the Walmart Foundation for stepping in to help the families impacted by the
slope failure in Fort Washington, MD. Their combined donation of
$10,000 to the newly created Community Foundation of Prince George’s County’s
‘Fort Washington Relief Fund’ and $500 in gift cards to Walmart to each
impacted family will be very helpful.
For the past two weeks, the Piscataway Hills
Community has had to adjust to a very tough situation and some residents are
beginning to face unexpected financial hardships. These donations will
help them lighten some of the financial burdens they are dealing with. It
is my hope that these donations will encourage other businesses, organizations
and residents to follow the lead of the Peterson family and Walmart.
Their contributions are setting a wonderful example of what it means to be a
good neighbor and a committed corporate citizen.”
