Board of Education Application Process: At-Large Member - CLOSED


As a result of the education reform law that was enacted for Prince George’s County Chapter 147 of the 2013 Laws of Maryland (House Bill 1107), County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III​ is required to appoint members to the Board of Education whenever there is a vacancy.  Below is the application that residents must complete to be considered by the County Executive to fill the Board of Education At-Large vacancy.

“At-Large” is a designation for Board of Education members who are appointed to represent the entire County rather than a specific Board of Education District.

Applicant Requirements

Interested applicants must:​ 

  • Be a resident of Prince George's County
  • Be a registered voter in the State of Maryland
  • Submit a completed Board of Education At-Large Appointment Application​ including responses to each essay question
  • Provide an updated resume with at least three professional references
  • Applicants should demonstrate the following characteristics:
    • A high level of knowledge and expertise concerning the successful management of a large business, nonprofit organization, or government entity
    • A high level of commitment to the Prince George’s County Public Schools
    • An ability to work as a contributing part of a team and build consensus around complex topics
    • An ability to effectively communicate with constituents from various economic, social and professional backgrounds
    • Represent the demographic and cultural diversity of Prince George’s County residents
