The County Executive is the chief executive officer of the Prince George’s County Government and is the highest ranking elected official in the County. As the leader of the executive branch of government, the County Executive is responsible for the operation of all governmental departments and agencies.
The County Executive also implements and enforces the laws of Prince George's County and provides executive direction to the government. The County Executive is responsible for over 30 departments and agencies such as libraries, public works, transportation and police that are charged with delivering services to County residents.
The County Executive is elected Countywide and can serve for two consecutive four-year terms.
