Event honors adopters and the hundreds of pets that have found their FUR-ever homes

LARGO, MD – The Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources’ Animal Management Division (AMD) will host its first Pet Adoption Reunion on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Upper Marlboro.  The furry event will celebrate families and their pets adopted from the Animal Services Facility. To date, more than 5,000 animals have been adopted through the Facility.

“We hope this event will inspire other families to consider adopting a pet from the Prince George’ County Animal Services Facility when searching for their perfect four-legged companion,” says AMD Associate Director, Rodney Taylor.  “Not only do you help the community when you adopt from the Shelter, but you give a brand, new life to a homeless animal.”

Attendees and their pets will enjoy a pet parade, free food, contests, and lots of kid-friendly games and activities.  A local veterinarian will be on hand to answer any questions pet owners may have about basic pet care.
