Upper Marlboro, MD – In recognition of September’s National Preparedness Month, the Prince George’s County Office of Emergency Management will host a 2013 Emergency Preparedness Conference themed “Creating Resilient Communities” on Saturday, September 28, 2013. The event is free to the community and will be held at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden - Ministry Center located at 3600 Brightseat Road, Glenarden, Maryland.
“Creating Resilient Communities” speaks to the need to ensure that everyone understands their role in preparedness and the County’s responsibilities when disaster strikes. Expert advice will be provided from State and Local officials, and you will hear from professionals in the field of Pet Preparedness, Volunteerism, Shelter Management and Alerts & Social Media. Information will also be provided on individual, community, faith-based and business preparedness. The conference will feature workshops, roundtables, panel discussions, in addition to Q&A sessions focused on providing information and insight on how we, as a community, can ensure our readiness in the event of an emergency.
