Turner will participate in Read Across America Day!
Prince George’s County Council Member Ingrid M. Turner (D) – District 4, will participate in Read Across America Day on Friday, March 1, 2013, 8:30 – 11:30 am, at Heather Hills, Greenbelt and Pointer Ridge Elementary Schools. She looks forward to using this time to continue her efforts in stressing the importance of reading to young children.
Council Member Turner takes special pleasure in reading to young people and Read Across America Day is an event after her own heart. “Read Across America Day is the perfect opportunity to focus on the importance of reading, especially at the elementary level. I believe that the earlier a child begins to learn and to love reading, the greater the impact is on their success in life. It is such a pleasure to go in to the classrooms and watch the students’ eyes light up when they hold a book in their hands and are so excited about reading it.”
