Council Member Turner Supports All Shades of Pink, Inc. and Women Overcoming Breast Cancer
Prince George’s County Council Member Ingrid M. Turner (D) – District 4, is proud to partner with All Shades of Pink, Incorporated (ASOP), and provide a grant for $2,500 to launch ASOP Fit 4 Exercise program. Council Member Turner will attend the program launch and make a special presentation to Founder and Executive Director Denice Walen-White on Friday, March 22, 2013, 9:30 a.m. at the Glenn Dale Community Center, 11901 Glenn Dale Boulevard, Glenn Dale, MD 20769.
Council Member Turner is excited about partnering with the non-profit to launch this program. “All Shades of Pink is an outstanding non-profit that continues to do great things for the community. Executive Director Denice Walen-White is wholly committed to the mission of ASOP and has helped so many women with and recovering from breast cancer. I am honored to partner with ASOP to provide this new program to help women who are recovering from breast cancer.”
Ms. Denice Whalen-White, Founder and Executive Director explained what Fit 4 Exercise will provide to the women in the community and expressed her appreciation to Council Member Turner. “To combat the physical stress that chemotherapy and radiation causes to one’s body, Fit 4 Exercise will provide women who are recovering from their breast cancer diagnosis to engage in a physical work out session or exercise class to strengthen their body at their local community center free of charge. As part of the program, each survivor will get a cook book entitled “Eating Well Through Cancer” to help them develop nutritional meals to fight their cancer returning as well as improve the overall nutritional health of their entire family. I appreciate Council Member Turner’s partnership with ASOP because it allows my organization to launch this wonderful new program.”
The mission of All Shades of Pink is to assist women (and their families) diagnosed with breast cancer with resource referrals, non-medical advice and/or emergency assistance during their treatment period. Visit www.allshadesofpink.org for more information.
