The hours of operation for the Walk-thru Permit Process are indicated below:
Building Review Walk-thru hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from
8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Fire, Electrical, Mechanical and Health Commercial Walk-thru hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from
8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
The length of time for a Walk-thru Permit:
For Walk-thru Permits, the process can take up to an entire day depending upon how crowded the Permit Center is. For submittal cases, the usual review time is 1 to 2 weeks.
The Walk-thru Permit Process is available for the following types of permits:
- Commercial Tenant Permits with the accompanying Use and Occupancy Permit, when required. May be limited to the size and type of construction. Please refer to our Tenant Fit-out Guide for walk-thru criteria.
- Applications for Use and Occupancy Permits without construction. This procedure does not apply to buildings erected prior to 1971, properties serviced by private well and septic, or buildings with changes to the proposed use of the original building.
- Building Sign Permits.
- Fire sprinkler site releases.
Properties located in the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, Historic Sites, and applications determined by any reviewing agency to be inappropriate for the walk-thru process must go through the regular review process.
