Parental Engagement and Education Project Task Force

CR-3-2013 Council Resolution established the Prince George’s County Parental Engagement and Education Program Workgroup to explore best practices for parental engagement and support in public education.

Parents are partners in education and their children’s first teachers. Research shows that the more parents are involved, the better their children do in school.  The Prince George’s County Parental Engagement and Education Program Workgroup will explore best practices for parent academies and parental engagement that meet the needs of parents to result in greater academic success for all children. And explore strategies to provide parents with knowledge, skills and resources to support their children's education and increase theirs and their children's development, to empower parents to effectively advocate for themselves and their children, to support parents in navigating the education process, to empower parents through education to support and strengthen families, to improve opportunities for parents to collaborate with schools and the School District.
